Important Notification Regarding Delta Dental Insurance

To our Valued Patients,

We hope this letter finds you well. We are writing to inform you of an important change regarding our office’s relationship with Delta Dental Insurance, effective May 1, 2025.

Our primary goal has always been to make your dental experience as comfortable, efficient, and timely as possible, while maintaining the highest standards of care. We strive to remain conservative in our treatment plans, communicate your options clearly, and keep your best interests in mind. Each year we evaluate several factors to ensure we provide the best dental services at a fair price. We consider industry trends, rising expenses, insurance reimbursements, and the evolving needs and expectations of our patients. Since we opened in 2010, Delta Dental’s reimbursement rates have only shown small increases, while the cost of providing care has grown significantly.

Unfortunately, this gap has made it unsustainable for us to remain as an In-network provider. Beginning May 1, 2025, we will no longer be an In-network provider for Delta Dental Insurance company. As a result, we will transition to an Out-of-network provider status which may increase your out-of-pocket costs.

• Our office will continue to accept Delta Dental Insurance plans and file/submit your dental claims as usual. Most Delta plans will still send payments to our office (e.g. Virginia Tech). Patients will be responsible for the estimated amounts not covered by insurance at time of service.
• Some Delta plans choose to reimburse the subscriber (patient) directly. Those patients will pay in full at time of service, receiving a reimbursement check from Delta Dental directly. Many patients have expressed utilizing their Health Savings Account (HSA) for this purpose. (A predicted list of these plans is provided below.)

To fully understand your specific dental plan’s benefits and reimbursements for Out-of-network providers, we encourage you to access your Delta Dental handbook or contact your benefits coordinator. We are here to assist you any way we can.
